Lendlease and Birmingham City Council are delighted to announce the commencement of meanwhile use measures to activate the Smithfield development site with a series of events being considered from Summer 2023.

“The Beach at Smithfield”

The first event will be “The Beach at Smithfield” operating between 14^th July - 3^rd Sept-23 and will be accessible for all to enjoy in the city. This event will include a Summer beach area along with funfair including rollercoaster-style rides and children’s rides along with a range of food and drink options.

The beach at Smithfield is operated by Danter Attractions Limited. Danter Attractions Limited has successfully delivered events in Birmingham before including: Ice Skate Birmingham in Centenary Square, Christmas Markets in Cathedral Square, and Digbeth Fun Fair.

About “The Beach at Smithfield”

A publicly accessible summer fairground and entertainment attraction (including a beach, fairground rides, Volleyball Courts) and associated Food & Beverage and ancillary uses.

·       Construction: 28 June -13 July 2023

·       Event Operation Dates (open to the public): 14 July – 28 August 2023

·       Deconstruction dates: 29 August – 3rd September 2023

·       Sunday to Wednesday:      10.30am to 9.00pm

·       Thursday to Saturday:        10.30am to 10.00pm

3x3 Basketball Summer Showcase

The second event was a 3x3 Basketball Summer showcase event from 29^th-30^th Jul-23. A special two-day stop of the JD Ball Out 3x3 National Tour in Birmingham to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, where Team England won gold and silver in the 3x3 competition.
